Shoulders of Giants

In October of 2009, Michael McCabe attended an immersion day at Valley New School in Appleton. "I felt this electricity," McCabe said, “ as I walked into the school. No bells. No teachers directing traffic. The students were working independently and the projects blew me away. I wanted what they had."

There is a hall in Kornerstone School dedicated to the outstanding small schools that have started up and sustained. These schools include Minnesota New Country School, Valley New School, Tagos, Phantom Knight Academy, Empire High School, and Perspectives Charter Schools. When you enter Kornerstone School, you'll see traces of these other schools all around you.
