Project Based Learning

PBL is a learning system that has been around for a long time. In fact, many teachers in the Kimberly Area School District are doing parts of PBL in their classroom.

PBL places emphasis on the process of learning. Students explore their passions and follow a method that has been successful since 1994 (See MNCS).

PBL in Kornerstone is broken down into 6 phases: Proposal, Research, Planning, Production, Pre-assessment, and Assessment. Parents, students, and Kornerstone Staff will work together through each of these phases. Students will present their projects at one of the 4 event nights held throughout the school year.

Event Nights

Four times per year, students in Kornerstone School display their learning to the entire Kimberly community.

Event nights are red carpet affairs in which students share what they have learnined with anyone who is interested. Event nights are an important community builder and are crucial to students displaying what they've learned.
